MOSO MBA bars made of lean duplex stainless steel 1.4362
--- stable, durable, low-cost! ---
Modersohn was the driving force that led to the material 1.4362 being approved in the spring of 2006 for all fastenings in Resistance Class III of the General DIBT Approval Z-30.3-6.
The high strength of this material is ideal for rolled and cant profiles.
Compared to A4 (1.4404) and A5 (1.4571), the MBA bars made of D4 (1.4362):
- can withstand higher loads - thanks to the higher yield strength, now 400 N/mm² instead of 235 N/mm² - has greater rigidity, E-module now 200 kN instead of 174 kN
- has a higher fatigue strength when subjected to dynamic loads, which is improved by the mixed microstructure - there is less tendency towards strain hardening
- higher corrosion resistance, in particular in the case of chloride and hydrogen-induced stress crack corrosion, which is dangerous due to the fine hair cracks this produces, which are almost invisible
- superior high temperature resistance because it has been established that, due to the nickel and molybdenum content, even after 50 hrs. of high-temperature stress at 850°C, there were no significant losses of strength and toughness; the impact strength was still in excess of 90 joules!
- lower-cost and greater price stability, as the low nickel content and negligible molybdenum content means the material contains no alloying elements of any significant speculative value
